UK electro-pop outfit Cocoa Futures have some serious doubts about making it on their new single Big Tome. Singer Greg Sanderson seems to long for fame, but he knows far too well that there's a downside to it. When push come to shove this serious piece of accessible soul searching doesn't provide a definite answer. Which makes perfect sense, because there isn't one.

UK electro-pop outfit Cocoa Futures take it slow on their new single Circus, a bubbling track delivered almost shyly by frontman Greg Sanderson's borderline falsetto vocals. Still too "out there" to make the charts, it's their first try to sound a bit more commercial. Pop music for people who don't like pip music.

A bit more mellow and far less jumpy than its predecessor The Blue, the main ingredients are now a lonesome guitar and stuttering bass motif accompanying the sad vocals. It seems like they try to channel Peter Gabriel even more on this one and when it comes to rhythm they can hold their own amongst hie Eighties work.

UK electro-pop outfit Cocoa Futures have taken from art-rockers like Roxy Music, Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel during his Sledgehammer phase. Their new single The Blue has upfront keyboards, a tugging bass line and vocals that just fall short of being all out falsetto. With its prominent use of a looped ice cream-van siren and plenty of echo it could have been recorded in the early Eighties.
