Psychedelic power pop veteran Anton Barbeau felt that it was time to make another record without a concept or back story again. Come Home To Me has no message - unlike his one-two punch captured on his Glitch Wizard & Dig The Lightt albums, but there is a recurring theme: take care of your loved ones. Barbeau reached out to former XTC members Colin Moulding and Dave Gregory who said yes without thinking twice and Andy Metcalfe (The Soft Boys), Donald Ross Skinner (Julian Cope) and Terry Edwards got on board for an excursion through the back streets of progressive psychedelic pop, art-rock and - wait for it - P-funk.
Barbeau hands out an invitation to pay attention to the little things (You Got Something, Touched The Butter) - although they are some reality checks (So Many Tears) included as well. Barbeau's signature nasal delivery is tailor-made for keeping the listener engaged. He and his musicians leave a trail of musical nuggets, some quite obvious, others hiding in plain sight, and the Easter eggs only showing themselves to those with undivided attention and an above average attention span. Don't sleep on the hidden track, an alternate version of the first track World Calls Love to bring the album full circle.
