Hot Lobby: Desert/Oasis

Bristol based quartet Hot Lobby rounded up their singles, added two more songs, and released them as a double EP. Desert/Oasis shows their darker and lighter side, although people will probably dance to all of it, because their wide array of dance floor fillers is irresistible. They can pull off Living Colour and progressive metal (Vampire), hiphop and soul (Snake Charmer), bossa nova ( Clarissa’s Theme) and jazz-tinged funk (Super Human).

Playing super tight but loose sounding grooves their update of 70s dance music by inserting so many other genres that listeners will lose count, is pretty damn impressive. Skirting the mainstream is cool, because it will appeal to both the general public as well as the music geeks.
