Ella van der Woude: Is Beauty Enough?

photo: Olivier Lovey

When Dutch-Swiss composer Ella van der Woude got the job to write the music for Charlie Kaufman's short movie How to Shoot a Ghost, the director told her that she should not hold back and write music that is not content with purring gently in the background. The lead single from the album, short but sweet Is Beauty Enough?, is proof that she rose to the challenge, with sax player Hristo Goleminov setting up a conversation with himself by playing tenor and alto.

Ella van der Woude: piano, synthesizers
Hristo Goleminov: tenor & alto saxophone
Brent Arnold: cello
Alistair Sung: cello

How to Shoot a Ghost is available for pre-order here (vinyl, digital). Release date: February 27.

On March 10 the movie will be shown at Eye in Amsterdam during a special event, during which Van der Woude will play live.
