Winter At Sea: Feeding Birds

UK post-rock collective Winter At Sea consists of revolving roster of musicians and scientists sharing a love experimental drones an ambient textures. Their latest effort Feeding Birds was built upon field recordings - for once pigeons are actually useful - and as the track progresses grumbling synths gradually take over.

It is a ground swell of noise and a showcase for the use of modular sound design, a concept in which the components team up to create something fresh and exciting, although it is far easier to come up with an abominable mess. It will confuse mainstream lovers for sure, but anyone with a working knowledge of the avant-garde will be pleasantly surprised.

Winter At Sea:
Matt Benatan (Din of Celestial Birds): synths
Chris Chapman (Flies Are Spies From Hell): field recording, metal birds
Andy Selby (Monsters Build Mean Robots): modular sound design

Feeding Birds is released via A Cheery Wave Records.

Live date:
  • 03/08 London, UK @ Calamity Tank
(they will be using acoustic guitars, bouzouki, cello, synths)
