Wolverhampton based indie rockers Frieda Star peddle the kind of raw and fuzzy guitar music that would have made John Peel's program after he had heard the first four bars of their debut single Mothers and Sisters.
With an aloof vocal delivery a la Ian Dury they will go down well on the rock club circuit, where this kind of slacker goodness is still appreciated. They mention Al Capone and Tony Montana, both poster boys for acts of violence and murder, but still considered to be very cool somehow. Maybe they hope some of their notoriety rubs off on them.
