Montreal based quartet The Wesleys are evolving quickly. Their new EP Explosive Device is a far cry from their debut Outside Voices, a release that showed some of the potential that would end up on their self-titled full-length. Make no mistake: this is not a band that plays clean, because they know that keeping it a bit rough is part of their charm. They have as grown as musicians, not in "the look mom no hands" kind of way, but they dare to make jump cuts, throw in a few bars of full-on 60s cheesy sci-fi TV theme music or turn the blues inside out (and backwards) when the mood strikes them.
They are a band that will be championed by the staff of indie record stores, who will use the inclusion of the debut EP on the B-side of the vinyl version as an extra selling point. Try to keep up, because changes are that they are already working on the next one.
Explosive Device is released via Meritorio Records (green vinyl, digital).
