Breakneck speed punk band Beta Voids laugh at the idea that the wheels might come off as they play their blend of high energy songs, with a blaring saxophone trying to rise above the din. The seven tracks on their Scrape it Off EP are yanking at the chain - sometimes it feels that the members aren't even playing the same song, but somehow it still works like a charm. Imagine Bikini Kill having a whale of time with the Dead Kennedys.
This septet from Astoria, Oregon, gives loud-as-fuck music a very much needed shot in the arm. It is the perfect antidote to listen to after a particularly boring day at work. Free jazz meets hardcore, an endurance test for your speakers and neighbours.
