NYC quartet Native Sun have tried to capture what it means to be living in a big city on their new album Concrete Language. The Big Apple can be a scary place, but it has a lot to offer as well, so much in fact that it can be overwhelming. The short and angry This Mess sits comfortably next to art-rocker Adam and the soft-spoken All I Can See.
The overall mood is a bit downcast, but it is obvious that they have a love-hate relationship with the place they call home. Garage rock, punk and even a bit of Britpop are used to try to bottle their emotions. Recommended if you like Pavement, Oasis, and the Jesus and Mary Chain.
Concrete Language is released via TODO (vinyl, digital).
