Georgian singer and guitarist Nash Albert packed up his gear to record the songs for his new album Kingdom of Love in the Caucasus Mountains. If anything, it gave him opportunity to clear his head and reconnect with the early stages of his lifelong obsession with music. Hopping from folk to blues to psychedelic rock, it became a journey that had to be captured in storytelling songs that are highly personal, but whose message is universal.
Painting with broad strokes or with plenty attention to detail in the more subdued tracks, Albert keeps searching for what makes him tick. His many questions don't get definite answers, other than it is perfectly alright to prefer emotions over reason when creating art. The use of panduri, salamuri, doli, chipon and duduk, give his songs a patina that is not part of the standard popular music vocabulary. It is a friendly meeting of East and West, something that the world at large would love to see right now.
Kingdom of Love is released via Think Like A Key (CD, digital).
