London based psych collective Mandrake Handshake are playing the long game with Hypersonic Super-Asterid, a sprawling sonic trip propelled forward by swathes of bossa nova and off-kilter funk. Originally released as the band's debut single in 2020, it became a live favourite with ample opportunities to stretch out. So they decided to bottle that on stage energy and let rip for 8 minutes plus in the studio. For people with a shorter attention span: there is also an edited version that gets the job done in three-and-a-half minutes, which is not as much fun though.
Hypersonic Super-Asterid is released via Tip Top Recordings. Their debut album Earth-Sized Worlds will see the light of day on February 21st.
