Sebastian Studnitzky & Odesa Symphonic Orchestra: Memento Odesa

It takes a couple of minutes before composer Sebastian Studnitzky makes himself heard as a trumpet player on Memento Odesa, an EP that he recorded with the Odesa Symphonic Orchestra. He is aware that he is not the main character, but it is the cause of raising awareness about the war in the Ukraine.

Studnitzky wrote a classic set of three movements that are firmly rooted in the neo-classical tradition, with a few hints of jazz thrown in. And while the music as a whole is melancholic, there is always a glimmer of hope that things will get better some day. Until then, the music offers some consolation that last longer than the actual 15 minutes it takes to listen to it.

Memento Odesa is released via XJAZZ! Music. All proceeds of the project (the EP and tour) will be donated to Children of Heroes, an Odessa based charity.
