Detroit quartet Popular Creeps offer a dish of classic rock with a seasoning of glam and punk on their new album All Of This Will End In Tears. Using tried-and-true subjects as love, anger, grief and death, it is an album that can offer a welcome diversion of the listener's own issues. With the two guitars playing catch and a tight but loose rhythm section they have polished up the signature grit of Motor City just a bit, even making inroads into a country vibe with Wait Forever.
They feel more comfortable with the needles hovering in the red - the upbeat Wait & See and the slow menace in Flamethrower. Anyone who lost a dear friend can relate to the heartfelt rocker Gone By 45, a touching tribute to fellow musiciasn Tom Payne sung by guitarist Lenny Grassa. All Of This Will End In Tears tries to convert bad things into something good. Finding closure is still a long way to go, but it will help them to move on.
