The Chairman Dances: Small Comforts

For their new single Small Comforts Philadelphia based band The Chairman Dances were inspired by To a Poor Old Woman, a poem by William Carlos Williams. When things are bad, some solace can be found in the little things, in this case eating plums. Williams was a physician, which gave him a ring seat to watch human misery and hope against all odds. The song combines those two elements to great effect.

They recorded it as a three-piece band: Ashley Cubbler on vocals, drummer Mike Szekely contributing the high hat, and Eric Krewson on lead vocals and all other instruments. It is the title track from their new album, due for release on January 27 via Starry Rubric.
