I don’t want to be the person who sends everyone to the dictionary when they’re listening to music, just because I think that pop music should be a populist thing. So it’s a fine line. I feel like the words themselves don’t require that you need to know them and that they work well as nonsense words. They work well simply as things to drive the meter of the verse—and the meaning is almost a peripheral thing.
