King Sigh: One Might Wonder

King Sigh, a Belgian instrumental post-rock duo consisting of Peter Laermans and Zowie Vangeel, dipped their compositions in a mix of alternative Nineties rock guitar and Eighties new wave synths. Rest assured, they don't snub the progressive time signatures that will frustrate the dance crowd. Their new album One Might Wonder focuses on valleys of harmonics and occasional mountains of controlled mayhem. They throw in a couple of borderline martial drum fills to make it even more scary.

They stick to their self-imposed dogmas, telling wordless tunes about monsters and dystopian, cold landscapes. Lucky for them there is plenty of room within these confines to create music that is like an interpretive dance of light (just a bit) and shade (plenty). One Might Wonder might serve a stepping stone to get into The Bloody Knives and - after completing a few tests - The Fierce and The Dead followed by Adrian Belew-era King Crimson.

One Might Wonder is a self-released album. Buy it (CD, digital) from their website.
