The Slideshows: Sunrise Reprise

The Slideshows are a brand new psychedelic electronic indie trio from Amsterdam. Producer Auke van der Wielen wrote the songs and got Marcel Hulst (Maggie Brown, Mountaineer) on vocals and guitar and Floor Stevens on drums for their debut EP Sunrise Reprise. It's a mixed bag of styles, taking cues from Beck, Boards of Canada, and LCD Sound System. There's A Way is the track that could earn them some airplay on mainstream dance radio shows, while the title track and I Was Here sound harsher and more fulfilling in the long run.

With the gentle electro-ballad How Many Heartbeats Does It Take the trio come close to the signature singer-songwriter sound of Marcel Hulst. They saved the best for last. Was It As Good For Me As It Was For You is a blend of Eighties Depeche Mode juxtaposed with Radiohead and Tame Impala.

They plan to use analog slides during their live shows. Keeping the vintage gear in sync with the music will be quite a challenge.
