Retro Eighties hair metal band Vains of Jenna won't pick up any awards for originality of jaw dropping musicianship. Formed in Sweden the band moved to LA and managed to get themselves heard on Jackass. They dress the part, raiding the wardrobes of Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe and Guns n' Roses. They got a s new singer in 2010, who has a FM friendly classic rock tone of voice.
Their latest album an Reverse Tripped is an all-covers collection of tried an true songs. They stick close to the original arrangements wrapping them in blanket of AOR, except for a slowed down Smoke On The Water. They choose Cee Lo Green's Fuck You as the lead single, by-passing superior interpretations of Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, or California Dreaming.
Rverse Tripped is the kind of album that's get picked up after the show. By no means essential, it's a souvenir of a hard working, crowd pleasing band. These are song that can anyone sing along with, no matter how many beers they had. One final note: It's pretty lame to to end the album with a radio friendly Forget You. If your wardrobe says "Fuck You", stick to it.
