The Simple Minds and OMD will pay tribute to pioneering synth band Kraftwerk with a joined performance of Neon Lights on the forthcoming UK tour.
Both bands were heavily influenced by the German band. OMD was recently featured in BBC 4 television documentary Synth Britannia that chronicled the rise of electronic and industrial pop music in the mid 70s and early 80s. The Simple Minds early albums Empires and Dance and especially Reel To Reel Cacophony took the industrial electronic Krautrock to another, more accessible level.
