The Dave Matthews Band (DMB) is huge in the USA. Really huge. Which is what happens if you peddle middle-of-the-road rock. The new album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is dedicated to sax player LeRoi Moore who passed halfway though the sessions for this album on August 19, 2008. It makes sense to kick off with a rather good sax played part this founding band member, but after that it straight to the usual DMB fare, which is the perfect antidote if you happen to suffer from insomnia.
Below par funk (Sahke Me), religious fodder (Hand of God), a dragging stuck-in-the-mud swamp rock failure (Alligator Pie), it's all there and thousands of people love it. Wanna bet they love American Idol too?
Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is released on Bama Records. Release date: June 2nd.
The Dave Matthews Band plays four shows in the UK:
- 06/25 London, Brixton Academy (sold out)
- 06/26 London, Brixton Academy
- 06/28 London, Hard Rock Calling with Bruce Springsteen
- 06/29 Wolverhampton, Civic Hall
