Dead Confederate: Wrecking Ball

Dead Confederate - photo: Pamela

Has the CIA ever considered investigating if there's something in the drinking water of Athens, GA, that breeds so many good sounding bands? Dead Confederate have unleashed their Wrecking Ball album, filled with music that gets under your skin.

From the opening track Heavy Petting - a big rock song that pays tribute to Black Sabbath, the five musicians move on like a steamroller, slowing down sometimes but never losing momentum, until they reach the 12 minute plus Flesh Colored Canvas and the title track. Try pigeonholing them as echo heavy dark retro southern rock. O, and Mr. Ulrich, please take a good listen to the cymbals.

Dead Confederate:
Hardy Morris: vocals, guitar
Brantley Senn: bass
Walker Howle: guitar
John Watkins: keyboards
Jason Scarboro: drums
