The Zela Margossian Quintet played it somewhat safe on their Indifferent World single, but it gave them the confidence that they had found their sea legs and they could head for uncharted waters for the next one. In Flight soars and sighs, and while the band always is in control, each member gets a place in the spotlight, with Jacques Emery's short but sweet double bass stealing the show.
Jazz has superseded the neo-classical training pianist and composer Zela Margossian on this one. The training wheels are off and a whole new world of possibilities is beckoning her to explore.
